Manaksia Steels has announced plans to invest approximately ₹800 crore in expanding its manufacturing operations at Haldia in West Bengal.
The proposed investment will be used to increase production capacity and modernise the company’s existing facilities.
The Haldia industrial area is an established manufacturing and logistics hub with access to port infrastructure and connectivity to eastern India’s industrial markets.
The expansion will involve additional manufacturing infrastructure and improvements to existing facilities.
Steel processing and downstream steel manufacturing operations require a combination of rolling, coating, finishing, material-handling and utility systems depending on the products being manufactured.
Modernisation projects also involve upgrading electrical systems, automation, instrumentation and production-control systems.
The proposed investment comes as India’s steel consumption continues to grow, supported by infrastructure, construction, automotive and manufacturing demand.
While large integrated steel projects attract significant attention, smaller downstream and processing facilities are also expanding to meet demand for specialised steel products.
The Haldia expansion will add to the industrial activity already taking place in the region.
The project is expected to be implemented in phases as the company develops the additional capacity and upgrades existing infrastructure.
The expansion is also expected to create additional employment and support activity among contractors, equipment suppliers and industrial service providers.
Further details regarding the specific production capacity additions and individual project components are expected as the expansion progresses.
