Amara Raja Approves Additional ₹550-Crore Investment

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility has approved an additional investment of approximately ₹550 crore in its subsidiaries as the company expands its energy-storage and battery manufacturing operations.

The investment is part of the company’s continuing programme to increase manufacturing capacity and develop new energy-storage technologies.

Amara Raja has been expanding its operations beyond conventional lead-acid batteries into lithium-ion cells, battery packs and other energy-storage technologies.

The company is developing manufacturing infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh as part of its broader energy-storage strategy.

Large-scale battery manufacturing requires specialised production environments, automated assembly systems, testing facilities, material-handling equipment and extensive electrical and thermal-management infrastructure.

Battery manufacturing facilities also require tightly controlled processes because product quality and safety depend on precise control of manufacturing conditions.

India’s growing electric-vehicle market and increasing deployment of renewable energy are contributing to demand for battery and energy-storage systems.

Energy storage is also becoming increasingly important for grid applications because renewable generation varies according to weather and time of day.

The additional investment will support Amara Raja’s expansion plans and development of its manufacturing capabilities.

The company is expected to continue investing in capacity and technology as India’s energy-storage market develops.
