GSFC Seeks Joint-Venture Partner for 500,000 TPA Green Ammonia Project

Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited has invited expressions of interest from potential joint-venture partners for the development of a large-scale green ammonia facility at its Sikka unit in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The proposed plant is planned for a minimum production capacity of 500,000 tonnes per annum, with scope for higher capacity.

GSFC plans to leverage existing infrastructure at the Sikka industrial site, including a captive jetty capable of handling vessels of around 33,000 DWT, refrigerated ammonia storage of approximately 30,000 tonnes and an existing pipeline connection between the shore terminal and the plant.

The company is seeking a partner that can contribute capital, technology access, renewable-energy integration, project-development capability and long-term offtake arrangements.

The brownfield location could provide infrastructure advantages compared with a fully greenfield project, particularly for ammonia handling, storage and export logistics.

GSFC has positioned the project as part of its wider move into green-energy and low-carbon chemical production. The company has already been working on green-hydrogen-related initiatives, including a pilot electrolyser project at Vadodara.

The expression of interest was published on 28 September 2026, with submissions scheduled to close on 29 November 2026.
