IOCL Advances Panipat Refinery Expansion Works

Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s Panipat Refinery Expansion Project continues to generate engineering and procurement activity as work progresses on the planned expansion of the refinery complex in Haryana.
The expansion programme includes development of additional processing capacity and associated petrochemical facilities.
The project has generated multiple engineering and procurement packages covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and other plant systems.
Recent government e-procurement records include packages for mechanical fabrication and erection works as well as electrical works associated with the Panipat Refinery Expansion Project.
Separate procurement activity has also been initiated for equipment and systems required for the project, including fire and gas detection systems.
The expansion involves integration of new facilities with the existing Panipat refinery complex.
Such brownfield refinery projects require extensive coordination between new construction and existing operating units.
Engineering teams must account for existing pipelines, utilities, electrical systems, access routes and operating facilities while new units are developed.
The project therefore involves a combination of new construction, equipment installation and modifications to existing infrastructure.
The Panipat refinery is one of IndianOil’s major refining facilities and forms an important part of the company’s northern India refining network.
The expansion is expected to increase refining and petrochemical capabilities at the site.
Procurement and construction packages are expected to continue as the project progresses towards completion.
